👚Your kid has grown an inch or two, the stains are too big to ignore, or her style has miraculously changed over the summer. That means it’s time to go back-to-school shopping.
👕For some of you, it’s no big deal. But for others, it can elevate your heart rate and give you sweaty palms just thinking about it.
😲Many students in middle and high school struggle with their body image. It is exacerbated in the dressing rooms, and you need to be prepared so you can help your daughter through it if necessary.
💁♀️Start with a conversation before you even leave the house. Talk about:
-the budget
-what she needs to get (jeans, a sweater, back pack, etc)
-the school dress code
-your rules
🧢One thing that I’ve always done with my kids is make a deal with them that I get to choose ONE OUTFIT that they must try on. There is no obligation and no pressure for them to like it or buy it.
😂Another thing I encourage them to do is choose at least one outfit that is out of their comfort zone. Either one that is just plain fun or one that they feel like they could never pull off. Sometimes it ends up being their favorite. And if it is completely outrageous, it can lighten the mood.
